In the case of infringements of consumer rights by economic operators, at European and national level, a set of rules has been stipulated on the legal liability of persons who do not comply with the relevant legal provisions. Depending on the seriousness of the non-performance of legal or contractual obligations, various forms of legal liability are applicable, such as: civil liability, misdemeanor liability or criminal liability, which penalize professional traders guilty of wrongdoing and allow consumers to obtain compensation for damages. within the consumer relationship.
